St Catherine Laboure Catholic Primary School Gymea

St Catherine Laboure Catholic Primary School GymeaHistory
St Catherine Labouré Catholic Primary School
Gymea was established in 1954 by the Sisters of St Joseph Orange County. It was through perseverance and unity that St Catherine Labouré Gymea Catholic School was built. The sisters worked with each other and alongside the community to to gather, build and care for the school. In 1977 the first lay principal was appointed. The school pays respect to the founders naming sport houses and playgrounds after each contributing member Latta, Joseph, Connolly, Wilkinson and Hannon.

The charism of the Sisters of St Joseph is that of unity with God and others. The sisters never gave up, they continually kept their dream and vision to meet the needs of the growing faith-filled community. The St Catherine Labouré community continue to live by the motto Unity, Friendship and Learning, grounded in the faith and charism of their founding sisters. Students are called to live faith-filled lives inspired by the work of the Sisters of St Joseph in unity and service with each other, their families and community.

The school has undergone major building construction and refurbishment, most recently with a major two-stage building project which built 11 new classrooms and refurbished eight. Today, the school is a modern and spacious learning environment with 22 contemporary state of the art learning areas and five spacious and interesting playgrounds.
